Here’s another reason to eat breakfast.  A  new study says skipping the first meal of the day may increase your chances of a heart attack.

Harvard researchers found that older men who regularly missed breakfast had a 27-per cent higher risk of heart attack compared to those who ate a morning meal.  Lead researcher Doctor Leah Cahill says the body creates more insulin, cholesterol and fatty acids when we’re sleeping, as well as increased blood pressure.  “While you’re sleeping, you are fasting,” she explains, “and if you don’t break fast in the morning, our bodies stay in the fasting state, and we don’t get the nutrients we need.”

Experts also say people who skip breakfast are more likely to eat larger and unhealthier meals later in the day.  That can spike sugar levels and perhaps lead to clogged arteries.
