Unlike a lot older workers trying to re-enter the work force, former Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty has landed nicely back on his feet. The former Leader of the Liberal Party of Ontario is taking up a senior fellowship at Harvard University this fall. McGuinty will be spending a semester at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
McGuinty stepped down earlier this year after nearly a decade in office. He gave up his Ottawa-area seat in the Ontario Legislature last week. McGunty left politics under a cloud as anger mounted over his costly decision to cancel two gas-fired power plants in Oakville and Mississauga in order to save Liberal seats during the last provincial election.
At Harvard, McGuinty’s fellowship program involves a major research project as well as time advising students and leading seminars.
