They’re just too confusing.
That was former Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty’s response today to questions about the rules on keeping government emails and correspondence.
McGuinty was testifying at legislative committee hearings for a second time, about his government’s decision to cancel gas plants in Mississauga and Oakville.
The privacy commissioner found staff in the former premier’s office broke the law by deleting all of their emails.
The opposition parties allege that Liberal staff permanently deleted emails in an attempt to hide the cost of cancelling the gas plants.
The cost is thought to be at least $585 million, far more than the $230 million McGuinty originally claimed.
