ANTIBIOTIC WARNING FOR PEOPLE 65 AND OLDER

Here’s news for people aged 65 and older  who take statins for high cholesterol and for bacterial infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis.

Canadian doctors are recommending that you not use the antibiotics clarithromycin or erythromycin at the same time  because of potential kidney injury.

The caution is based on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s warning that use may lead to higher concentrations of statins in the blood.
