Two of the stars of a cult British comedy hit have received honours from Queen Elizabeth.
Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson of “Blackadder” fame have been recognized in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Atkinson is also famous for the “Mr. Bean” series and several movies. He has been made a Commander of the British Empire.
Robinson played the hapless manservant Baldrick in the Blackadder series. He was knighted for his public and political service.
Robinson promises to use his new title “with abandon to highlight the causes I believe in, particularly the importance of culture, the arts and heritage in our society, and the plight of the infirm elderly and their carers.”
Atkinson says the CBE came as a “genuine surprise” and a “great honour”.
