Ontario Provincial Police have referred written complaints by the Progressive Conservatives about illegally deleted Liberal government emails on cancelled power plants – to criminal investigators.
OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis confirmed today that the force will check into ” alleged impropriety on the part of individuals in the former premier’s office and other offices.”
The investigation involves illegally deleted documents in the $585 million dollar cancellation of power plants in Mississauga and Oakville – before the October 2011 election.
Premier Kathleen Wynne said yesterday that the deletion of emails by top Liberal political staffers is unacceptable.
Meanwhile, the New Democrats want to recall several key players implicated in the scandal, including former premier Dalton McGuinty and his last chief of staff, David Livingston.
