The Senate committee that ordered an external audit into the travel expense claims of Senator Pamela Wallin will call her to appear as a witness next week.
The Toronto Star reports “The Senate committee on internal economy, budgets and administration” will also ask forensic accounting firm Deloitte to meet senators next week in order to explain the time it is taking to complete its review of Wallin’s expense claims.
Earlier Today Conservative Senator David Tkachuk, who chairs the internal economy committee, said senators did not expect to hear back from Deloitte until after the parliamentary session is over.
That would mean the committee, which could continue to meet even after the Senate rises or if Parliament is prorogued, would not be able to table its report or release the Deloitte findings until politicians are back in Ottawa after the summer break.
