The Cannes Film Festival gets underway today with one of the most talked-about films of the year.
Baz Luhrmann’s 3-D adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby opens the festival this year.
Steven Spielberg is jury president, presiding over a star-filled panel that includes Nicole Kidman, Ang Lee and Christoph Waltz.
Gatsby is making its European premiere tonight, nearly a week after opening in North America to mixed reviews.
A total of 20 films are in competition at Cannes, including works by the Coen Brothers, Steven Soderbergh, and Roman Polanski.
