Before there were people like Maury, Steve Harvey or even Phil Donohue and, yes, even before Oprah there was Dr. Joyce Brothers. The pop psychologist who pioneered the TV advice show in the 1950s has died. She was 85 and her publicist says she died from respiratory failure in New York City. Brothers first gained fame on a game show and went on to publish 15 books. She also made cameo appearances on shows ranging from “Happy Days” to “The Simpsons.” She was a guest on “The Tonight Show” featuring Johnny Carson nearly 100 times.  (Associated Press)
