Toronto’s Mayor is encouraging the provincial New Democrats to vote against the budget to trigger an election.  On Thursday evening, Mayor Ford released a statement saying he was generally happy with the budget.  He said he was encouraged by the emphasis on creating jobs and by the city’s portion of the provincial gas tax becoming permanent.  But on his Toronto radio show yesterday, Ford says the New Democrats should withhold their support for the Liberals’ budget because the taxpayers want an election.  Premier Kathleen Wynne and the minority Liberals need the support of either the NDP or the PC’s to continuing governing.  PC leader Tim Hudak says his MPPs will be voting against the budget.  NDP leader Andrea Horwath has yet to make her decision public.  She’s encouraging Ontario voters to weigh in on the budget by calling 1-877-341-0244 or filling out an online questionnaire at yoursayontario.ca.  Horwath says her party’s decision will reflect the reception she receives from voters.
