It just might be the smartphone device which saves Waterloo, Ontario based Blackberry.  The BlackBerry Q10 goes on sale today in the Greater Toronto Area, before sales expand to the rest of Canada later in the week.  BlackBerry’s chief operating officer Kristian Tear says “demand in Toronto is very, very strong and they’re making sure they have enough supply.”  The keyboard version of the new BlackBerry 10 is expected to be popular with business users, especially with bankers and traders on Bay Street.  Many of those phones are purchased by businesses, or enterprise customers, who buy the devices in bulk for their employers.  BlackBerry is expected to release the Q10 in the crucial U.S. market next month.  It’s already on sale in the U.K.  Some analysts have recently observed that sales of the BlackBerry Z10 touchscreen phone have started to fall in some markets, and never really took off in the U.S. where it arrived in stores last month.  Shares of BlackBerry were ahead more than 5-percent yesterday to $16.60 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
