We are learning more about the Montreal PhD student suspected of plotting a terror attack on a VIA passenger train.  A Toronto Star report says Tunisian-born Chiheb Esseghaier allegedly met in person with an Al-Qaida operative before coming to Canada in 2008, putting him on the radar of security officials here.  The story goes on to say that Esseghaier has been under surveillance for a year, and police became increasingly concerned after what was seen as erratic conduct aboard an airliner en route to Mexico last spring.  But the report says it was a recent change in behaviour that triggered police to arrest him at a McDonald’s in Montreal’s Central Station on Monday.  His co-accused Raed Jaser was also arrested Monday at his North York workplace.  Both Jaser and Esseghaier will remain in custody until their next court appearances on May 23rd.
