The BBC Proms concerts will make musical history this year.

Marin Alsop will become the first woman to conduct “the last night of the Proms” in the  famous finale  to the annual concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Alsop is music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and is also principal conductor of the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra.

The Proms concerts begin on July 12th and  run for two months – with everything from renowned soloists to  gospel choirs and orchestras, music from the big screen and a performance of Stravinsky’s  “The Rite Of Spring.”
