More than 200 people lined up to voice their opinions about a casino to Toronto’s Executive Committee.

Mayor Ford and his Executive met until 9:00 last night to hear deputations from citizens and organizations on both sides of the debate. Maureen Lynette of “No Casino Toronto” told the committee she has half a million supporters. She told the committee that lobbyists have been presenting a rosy picture about the jobs and revenue a casino can bring. But she says the more people learn, the more they disapprove.

The committee will meet again this morning to assess what they heard and to vote on the staff report outlining a set of conditions Toronto requires before agreeing to host a casino. If the committee gives the go-ahead, City Council will  debate the proposal next month.
