Another reason to keep our bodies and mind “fit” as we age. Findings from the Mayo Clinic Study of Aging say older adults who are both physically and mentally active may have a reduced risk of developing mild cognitive impairment. Researchers have discovered that adults aged 70 to 93 who were involved in moderate physical activity as well as computer use had a nearly 65 percent drop in their odds of having MCI compared with those who weren’t involved. The Mayo clinic doctors say that lifestyle factors such as physical exercise and mentally stimulating activities are increasingly being recognized as important elements in the prevention of dementia.
