Six automakers are now involved in a massive worldwide recall of millions of older model vehicles because of defective air bags.
The recall includes about 200-thousand vehicles in Canada, from automakers Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda, as well as a small number of cars made by Germany’s BMW and General Motors.
A problem with the air bags can send shrapnel flying into the passenger compartment.
The automakers say they will inspect the air bag inflators and replace them if necessary at no cost to owners.
