Comments made by two city councillors about City Manager Joe Penachetti’s casino report have prompted the Toronto Taxpayers Coalition to file a complaint to the city’s integrity commissioner.
The coalition says the comments by Adam Vaughn and Mike Layton breach the city’s code of conduct.
Matthew McGuire is President of the coalition.
He says Layton and Vaughn are accusing the City Manager of making up details of the report.
McGuire says there’s a difference between questioning staff and disagreeing with them – versus undermining them.
He says the issue could have been resolved with an apology from each councillor.
