TORONTO BLUE JAYS LOSE HOME OPENER BUT REMAIN OPTIMISTIC ABOUT A WINNING SEASON

It wasn’t exactly an inspiring opening for the Toronto Blue Jays.

After paying big bucks to purchase some high-priced talent in the off-season, the Jays lost their home opener to the  Cleveland Indians 4-1 at Rogers Centre last night.

Jays ace R-A Dickey says he was overwhelmed by the fan support. “The welcome I got from the fans was borderline supernatural.  It was pretty awesome.  And deep down, you want so badly to give them a great show and you want to entertain them and  you want to pitch a one-hitter.  But I think everyone who came tonight understands we’ve got a pretty good ball club and the season is not won or lost on opening night.”

Canadian Danielle Wade opened the event with the singing of the anthems.  She plays the role of Dorothy in the Mirvish production of the Wizard of Oz.

The Jays and Indians play game 2 of their 3 game series tonight at 7:07 at Rogers Centre.
