Toronto’s embattled Factory Theatre has named its artistic directors.
The board of the company has confirmed that interim artistic directors Nina Lee Aquino and Nigel Shawn Williams will run the company on a permanent basis as co-artistic directors.
They take over from Factory’s founder, Ken Gass, who was fired by the board last year in a dispute over the future direction of the theatre. His dismissal led to a boycott of the theatre by prominent artists and playwrights. George F. Walker’s Dead Metaphor was to debut at Factory this season. It will now be part of Mirvish Productions new season in a co-production with Ken Gass’s Canadian Rep Theatre.
