There’s a call for Canada Pension Plan benefits to be doubled .
That comes from the national President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. Paul Moist says the C-P-P is a good plan but it only replaces 25 per cent of a worker’s income -and that needs to change.
But Ted Menzies, the federal Minister of State for Finance, says increasing C-P-P contributions would require the support of a majority of the provinces, and that’s not the case right now.
He says the plan is in good shape and government must be careful not to do anything that could hurt the integrity of it.
