An internationally known Olympic athlete is making headlines for murder.
Double amputee Oscar Pistorius of South Africa became known as the “blade runner” for making in to the Olympic semi-finals in London competing against able-bodied athletes. He’s been charged with murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend, who was found dead early today at the runner’s home in a gated community on the outskirts of the capital, Pretoria.
Police say they have been called to Pistorius’s home in the past for incidents of a domestic nature.
Pistorius is to appear in court today.
