Teenagers may be feeling more pressure about their futures than their zoomer parents realize.

A wide-ranging report from the Toronto District School Board found more than 70 percent of students in grades 9 through 12 were worried about their future.

The 2011 survey also found more than 70 percent of high school students felt nervous or anxious often – or some of the time.  And nearly as many grade 9 through 12s said they were under a lot of stress often – or sometime.  Grade 7 and 8’s are also feeling stressed about the future but not to the same degree as high school kids.

A TDSB spokesperson says the report’s findings will be used to craft a mental health strategy to better support students’ social and emotional well-being.  Principals of individual schools have already received the reports.
