Three consumer groups are leading the charge against three-year cellphone contracts at a federal hearing in Gatineau, Quebec.

They want the C-R-T-C to cap contracts at two years and are also against wireless carriers charging sky-high roaming fees when devices are used outside their normal coverage area.

The federal regulator is holding a week-long hearing as it works to set national standards for the content and clarity of cellphone contracts.
