Lance Armstrong’s troubles with doping appear far from over. The disgraced former Tour de France champion is reportedly the focus of a criminal probe by U.S. federal investigators. ABC News is quoting a high level source who agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity. This source says “agents are actively investigating Armstrong for obstruction, witness tampering and intimidation.” Armstrong confessed to lying and using performance-enhancing drugs throughout his career in a January interview with Oprah Winfrey. He acknowledged that the admission could be just the beginning. “This is heavy and this is messy and this is not something I can leave with you and go, we’re all good.”
Lance Armstrong is currently serving a lifetime ban in sport handed down by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. He’s been given until today (February 6th) to tell all, under oath to investigators or lose his last chance at a possible break on the lifetime ban.
Armstrong is the founder of the Livestrong Cancer Foundation, which has raised $750-million for cancer survivors.
