It may not be in the running for any of the major movie awards, but Best Exotic Marigold Hotel has been declared last year’s “Best Movie for Grownups.”
The story about a group of Brits who move to what they’ve been led to believe is a palatial retirement home in India was honoured by the AARP in the US. That’s the sister organization of our own CARP, “a new vision of aging.”
One of the stars of Marigold, Judi Dench, won best actress over the age of 50. Denzel Washington won for best actor over 50 for his latest movie, Flight. His Flight co-star, John Goodman, won best supporting actor for that age group.
Silver Linings Playbook earned Jacki Weaver the award for best supporting actress over 50.
Bernie was named best comedy for grownups.
