Canada’s Foreign Affairs Department is still trying to confirm claims by Algeria that two Canadian men were among the militants in the gas complex hostage crisis last week.  It’s a claim made by Algeria’s Prime Minister who says two Canadians were among the dozen of Islamic extremists who took hostages in a four day siege.  Word out of Ottawa is that the pair might have carried fake Canadian passports.  Twenty-nine militants and thirty-eight hostages were killed.  Some made a lucky escape.  Steven Wysocki was one of those trapped at the plant.  His wife tells ABC news her husband was within feet of the terrorists, and spent two and a half days hiding under a desk.  “I don’t think any of us can imagine it.  But my feeling of it is that he’s been to hell and back.  Fortunately, he made his way back.”

It’s not clear if the alleged Canadians were among the twenty-nine militants killed, or the several that Algerian forces claim to have captured on Saturday.
