Native protesters are expected to stage a demonstration when the Prime Minister appears at the Ford Plant in Oakville this morning.

Stephen Harper and Labour Minister Lisa Raitt will announce more federal funding for the auto industry to keep jobs in Ontario.

But members of the “Idle No More” movement will be on hand to demand that Harper meet with the Chief of the Attawapiskat First Nation. Theresa Spence has been on a hunger strike since December 11th demanding a meeting with Harper and Governor General David Johnston to discuss the government’s record on First Nations treaties.

The Assembly of First Nations has also demanded a meeting with Harper and Johnston later this month on the first anniversary of his last summit with native leaders. There has been no response from the Prime Minister.
