She’s won an Oscar and several other awards, and even been knighted.

But now Dame Helen Mirren also has a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

The actress who won an Oscar for playing Queen Elizabeth was on hand for the unveiling of the star yesterday. She said she was thrilled by the honour. But then she added — with tongue planted firmly in cheek — “I am so very proud to be henceforth walked on upon, have fries dropped upon, maybe even be peed upon, by future generations of tourists, Angelinos and their dogs. But, please, no chewing gum.”

Mirren’s star is situated next to fellow Royalty-player Colin Firth. He won an Oscar for playing the Queen’s Father in The King’s Speech. Mirren says “lying next to Colin Firth is something I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time.”

Dame Helen Mirren is nominated for another Golden Globe for her work in the movie Hitchcock with Sir Anthony Hopkins. If she wins, it will be her fourth Golden Globe.
