The Producers Guild of America has announced its nominees for best movie of 2012. And they seem to be following in line with other nominations.
“Lincoln,” “Les Miserables” and the Osama bin Laden thriller “Zero Dark Thirty” lead the list.
Other best-picture contenders are the Iran hostage-crisis thriller “Argo”; the low-budget critical favorite “Beasts of the Southern Wild”; Quentin Tarrantino’s “Django Unchained”; “Life of Pi”, based on the novel by Canadian author Yann Martel; the first-love tale “Moonrise Kingdom”; the lost-souls romance “Silver Linings Playbook”; and the James Bond adventure “Skyfall.”
Along with honors from other Hollywood professional groups such as actors, directors and writers guilds, the producer prizes help sort out contenders for the Academy Awards. The Producers’ Choice often foreshadows the Oscar Best Picture.
The Oscar nominations come out a week from today.
