The province will anounce this morning what it plans to do about the ongoing dispute with the province’s public school teachers.

Education Minister Laurel Broten is expected to announce whether she will use the measures in Bill 115 to impose contracts on tens of thousands of public elementary and high school teachers.

Opposition leader Tim Hudak says his party wants Broten to use the law to impose contracts and put an end to rotating walkouts. He says that’s why his party supported the bill.

The Elementary Teachers’ Union wants the province to wait until a new Premier is chosen before taking any action. Two leadership candidates — Gerrard Kennedy and Eric Hoskins — are both in favour of waiting. But candidate Kathleen Wynne says that decision is up to Broten and outgoing Premier Dalton McGuinty.

Laurel Broten will make her announcement at 10:00 this morning.
