It’s been confirmed by the TDSB that Elementary school teachers with the Board will hold a one-day strike on Tuesday to protest the McGuinty government’s controversial Bill 115.
The Bill allows the government to impose a two-year contract on teachers that includes a wage freeze, halves sick days and ends teachers’ ability to bank unused sick days.
It also gives Education Minister Laurel Broten the power to end a strike or lockout without debating the issue in the provincial legislature.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario has promised to give parents 72 hours notice for each of the one-day strikes being held across Ontario.
That means the E-T-F-O will make a public announcement Saturday morning that Toronto teachers will walk out Tuesday.
