The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario is expected to announce a one-day strike in York Region for Thursday after walk-outs in other parts of the province the first three days of the week.

So far, there’s no indication of when Toronto might become the target and battlefield in the fight with Queen’s Park over Bill 115.

The provincial government says it will not intervene in the strikes as long as the union keeps them to one day at a time.

Education Minister Laurel Broten says she is ready to step in if the strikes last any longer.

Meanwhile, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation says its members will withdraw from all non-classroom work beginning today, including extra-curricular sports and events such as holiday concerts.

In Toronto, students at various high schools have or will walk out.

And an after school rally at R.H. King Academy in Scarborough will call for an end to Bill 115.
