The Metropolitan Opera’s recording of Wagner’s Ring Cycle leads the nominations for the Grammy Best Opera recording.
The recording of Canadian Director Robert LePage’s controversial production of the Ring Cycle was conducted by James Levine and Fabio Luisi. Luisi was brought in to take over when Levine had to withdraw because of illness.
Michael Buble’s Christmas album is in the running for Best Traditional Pop Vocal album.
And Toronto’s Howard Shore has been nominated in the film soundtrack category for his score to the Martin Scorcese film, Hugo.
