Today is the last day for anyone wanting to replace Dalton McGuinty to register as a candidate in the Ontario Liberal leadership race.

MPP Harindar Takhar became the seventh Liberal to enter the race. He resigned as Government Services Minister and made the announcement on his Facebook page.

The other Liberal leadership hopefuls so far are Kathleen Wynne, Glenn Murray, Charles Sousa, Eric Hoskins, Sandra Pupatello and Gerard Kennedy. The leader will be chosen on the weekend of January 25th in Toronto.

The opposition parties say the next Liberal leader won’t be able to run away from scandals such as the hundreds of millions of dollars spent to cancel two gas plants in Oakville and Mississauga.

Any Liberals still contemplating a run at the leadership have until 5:00 this afternoon to make up their minds.
