John Gibbons is reportedly being brought back to Toronto to manage the Blue Jays. Gibbons was fired by the Jays back in 2008 when Cito Gaston was hired for a second time as Jays’ manager. The Jays are expected to announce Gibbons as the replacement for the recently traded John Ferrell at a news conference this morning at 9:30. Meantime, all of last week’s news about the Toronto Blue Jays has been confirmed. Baseball commissioner Bud Selig says he won’t stand in the way of the trade that sees Toronto acquire shortstop Jose Reyes, pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, among others. The Jays have also confirmed they’ve singed free agent outfielder Melky Cabrera to a two year contract.
