Canada’s largest veterans facility will be undergoing a thorough audit by the Federal government. The Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto has been under scrutiny recently after some families of veterans complained of substandard care at the facility. A spokesman for Veterans Affairs Minister Steven Blaney says the audit was ordered following allegations of neglect among some of the frail veterans at Sunnybrook. A spokesman for the care centre says it meets or exceeds standards, adding that surveys of patients and their families have shown exceptional levels of satisfaction. The audit is expected to be completed by early next year, and will be made public.
