NHL labour talks are scheduled to resume for a fourth straight day in New York City. Representatives with the league and the Players Association appear to be moving slowly toward a collective bargaining agreement to salvage part of the season. But NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman did not provide any details when he spoke with reporters last night. He explained, “I don’t really have much to say. We’ve met with the Players’ Association for the last 3 days. But I’m not going to discuss the negotiations or the substance of what we’re talking about. I really don’t think that would be helpful for the process.” Players’ Association Executive Director Donald Fehr was equally as evasive. There are reports the league has responded to a pair of union proposals, including a system where the players’ share in revenue reaches 50-50 in the third year of the deal. The NHL lockout has been going on for nearly 2 months.
