Premier Dalton McGuinty is confirming that longtime cabinet minister Kathleen Wynne is seeking to replace him as leader of the Ontario Liberals.
Earlier today Wynne announced her resignation as minister of municipal affairs and aboriginal affairs – a prerequisite to running for the leadership.
She promised to make an announcement on Monday, but didn’t provide any further details.
Several other potential leadership candidates are said to be considering a bid, including former MP Gerrard Kennedy, who lost to McGuinty in 1996 by just 140 votes.
