One of Toronto’s leading music ensembles is losing its director.

Tafelmusik’s Music Director, Jeanne Lamon, will be stepping down in 2014. She has  held the position since 1981.

Andy Kenins is the Chair of Tafelmusik’s Board. He calls Lamon a “national treasure…..a talented leader who has touched millions of people throughout Canada and the world.” And the Canada Council calls her, “a toweringly influential figure in the musical life of Canada”

Under her direction, Tafelmusic has become one of the world’s top baroque orchestras.

Jeanne Lamon will continue to work on the creation of the Tafelmusik International Baroque Academy. The company will begin a search for a new Music Director.
