It was a lively night in Danville, Kentucky, as U-S Vice president Joe Biden and Republican Paul Ryan squared off in their only televised debate of the American election campaign.

The pair squabbled over the economy, taxes and Medicare.  Biden also promised Americans that the Obama Administration will track down and punish those responsible for the death of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi, Libya.   He also said the American people can be assured that wherever mistakes were made, they will not be made again.   But Ryan was critical of Barack Obama’s reaction to the killing of Chris Stevens saying, “it took the president two weeks to acknowledge this was a terrorist attack.”  Ryan also charged that Biden was under “a lot of duress to make up for lost ground” in a reference to President Obama’s low-key performance in the presidential debate last week.

The 90-minute debate is the only vice-presidential one. Mitt Romney and Barack Obama meet again Tuesday for a town hall-style debate in Hempstead, New York.
