Ontario’s public sector workers are about to receive a reality check.  The governing minority Liberals are expected to unveil a plan today for a 2 year wage freeze for Ontario’s broader public sector to help battle a $13-billion deficit.  After finance Minister Dwight Duncan outlines how the government will move ahead with the legislation, several union leaders are expected to lay out plans to fight back. 

It’s unclear whether the Liberals will be able to proceed with their legislation since MPPs are expected to resume debate on a contempt motion against Energy Minister Chris Bentley over the release of documents related to 2 cancelled gas plants.  McGuinty says the government has already complied with a Speaker’s ruling by providing 36,000 pages of documents. 

The admits the Liberal government made a mistake when planning to build new power plants in Oakville and Mississauga.  McGuinty says the Liberals planned to build 17 new gas-fired plants as part of the government’s $96-billion long-term energy plan, but got two of them wrong.
