The Shaw Festival and Mirvish Productions have both announced their seasons.
Toronto’s Mirvish Productions is introducing a new program called “Off-Mirvish”. It’s a series of four edgy new plays that will be offered alongside the usual lineup of big Broadway-style productions.
The inaugural series consists of Terminus from Outside the March theatre company; Anthony Rapp’s Edinburgh Festival hit Without You; the Pulitzer- and Tony-winning Clybourne Park from Studio 180 Theatre that has already had one production in Toronto; and Mary Walsh’s new show Dancing With Rage.
Meanwhile, highlights of next year’s season at the Shaw Festival include the classic 1950 musical Guys and Dolls and a more recent Broadway musical, the 2005 Tony-winning Light in the Piazza.
The season will also see productions of Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan, Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, and a re-working of Bernard Shaw’s Geneva by celebrated Canadian playwright John Murrell, called Peace in our Time: a Comedy.
