A Toronto man, who says former prime minister John Diefenbaker may have been his father, is getting another chance to prove his claim.
George Dryden has been trying for more than a year to establish whether he is Diefenbaker’s illegitimate son.
He had D-N-A tests done on some artifacts at the centre, but the results were inconclusive.
Now Saskatoon’s Diefenbaker centre has discovered a lock of hair labelled as belonging to the former prime minister.
Centre director Michael Atkinson says it seems to be a quite promising avenue for Dryden.
He says the centre has left word with Dryden but hasn’t received a response.
The lock of hair was discovered during renovations to the centre.
Dryden claims his mother had an affair with the former Conservative prime minister in the 1960s.
Diefenbaker died in 1979 and it was always assumed he had no children.
