One of their students has become the first Canadian to win the top prize in one of the world’s most important competitions for young pianists. 14-year-old Annie Zhou has taken the top award in the under-15 category in the event in Germany. Annie is the first Canadian ever to achieve this honour. Held every two years, it is open to talented pianists under 20 years old. This year’s competition attracted over 250 musicians from 40 countries. Annie was one of only two Canadians to advance to the finals.
