There should be a national drug plan to manage  Canada’s  prescription drug supply.

That’s the demand  from editorials in two leading journals.

The Canadian Medical Association Journal and the Canadian Pharmacists Journal say the federal government needs to take the lead – to ensure patients can get the drugs they need.

Unpredictable shortages of many critical medications have  experts calling for Ottawa to make it mandatory for drugmakers to report impending drug shortages instead of relying on a voluntary system.
