You’ll notice Ontario peaches are now being offered up at the grocery stores.
The recent heat wave is bringing an “early” peach crop this year.
The Ontario Tender Fruit Producers Marketing Board says the season is at least two weeks earlier than normal.
But don’t wait too long to enjoy this year’s peaches, since the Board says there will likely be less of them. Projections call for a crop that will be 30 per cent less than usual.
Producers say a warm spell in March brought peach trees out of dormancy too early, which made them vulnerable to frosts.
