Federal Liberals could face a choice in their coming leadership race between former prime minister Pierre Trudeau’s eldest son and the mother of the late leader’s only daughter. Justin Trudeau is actively reconsidering his initial decision to stay out of the race, but Deborah Coyne is taking the plunge today. She says, “Our families have always been very separate, so I have not been speaking to Justin Trudeau. He’s busy raising a family and he’s contributing to public life, and I wish him all the best.” Coyne’s daughter, Sarah, is attending university in the United States and won’t be involved in her mother’s leadership campaign, which begins officially in November.
