Bob Barker’s vision for the Toronto Zoo’s three elephants is another step closer to fruition.  The 88 year old former TV game show host and animal advocate has offered to pay for the transfer of the elephants to a California animal sanctuary.  Today, veterinarians at the Toronto zoo are expected to meet with representatives from the Performing Animal Welfare Society to go over the health records of living and deceased elephants that the group has cared for at the sanctuary near Sacramento. City councillor Glen DeBaeremaker says the zoo must complete this due diligence before the move proceeds.  But he says he can’t conceive of anything happening to stop the elephants from being transported to the PAWS sanctuary by the end of this summer, and certainly before the Christmas holidays.
