The widow of Vladimir Putin’s main vocal critic is expected to speak with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly Tuesday.

Yulia Navalnaya’s visit to Ottawa comes four-months after husband Alexei Navalny’s death in a Russian prison as she promises to carry on with his work.

The former Russian opposition leader ran to fight against Kremlin corruption.

Navalny was repeatedly attacked with chemicals and poisoned with a nerve agent before finally ending up in prison upon his return home.

Following his death in February, Trudeau accused the Russian president of having him executed to silence him once and for all.

Joly is scheduled to meet with Navalnaya tomorrow afternoon when they’re expected to discuss human rights in Russia and risks faced by political dissidents.

She’s then to meet with Trudeau.

Russia’s denied playing any role in Navalny’s death and its embassy has not yet said anything about his widow’s visit to Canada.
