Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is urging Israel to take steps to protect civilian life in the brutal war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Trudeau says the killing of women, children and babies must stop.

“I have been clear that the price of justice cannot be the continued suffering of Palestinian civilians, even wars have rules.” Trudeau said during a speech in British Columbia. “All innocent life is equal in worth, Israeli and Palestinian and I urge the government of Israel to exercise maximum restraint.|

Those remarks got the attention of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who tagged Trudeau in a post online saying his country isn’t deliberately targeting civilians and is doing everything to keep them out of harm’s way.

Israeli forces have entered a hospital they claim Hamas uses as its main command centre. The Israeli Military released a statement to say it’s carrying out a precise and targeted raid based on its intelligence.

Meantime, Justin Trudeau’s three-day visit to San Francisco gets underway Wednesday as he joins leaders gathered for the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summit.
